Yoga Mad

Normal

The influx of yoga studios, instructors and its commercialization has generated several yoga variations. Four of the most popular, modernized yoga types of variations include acroyoga, naked yoga, chair yoga, and hip-hop yoga.

Acroyoga

The physical practice that merges yoga exercises, acrobatics, and Thai massage, is called acroyoga. These three ancient exercises shape the groundwork of a fusion-style practice that promotes connection, trust and even good humor between partners. During acroyoga sessions, a base and a flyer are required. A base is an individual who has the most points of ground contact. A flyer is an individual who is lifted off the ground by the base. Acroyoga is viewed as a forerunner to more complex multi-partner yoga routines. The components of acroyoga include a circle ceremony, an asana warm-up, inverted yoga positions, partner acrobatics, a flyer’s flight, and Thai massage.

Naked yoga

One of the modern yoga types is the naked yoga. While many practice naked yoga at home, there are an increasing number of group classes. Nude yoga classes are already being offered in yoga studios and centers, as well as private clubs. Usually, the venue of the yoga practice sets the tone and helps establish clientele. Many nude yoga classes offered at yoga studios are inclined to be co-ed and the style of instruction may differ depending on the teacher.

Devotees find release in practicing naked in a safe and secure environment which they claim is strictly non-sexual. There’s no malice and most people who practice naked yoga take pleasure in the freedom of movement.

Chair yoga

A gentler form of yoga types is called chair yoga. A chair yoga exercise is practiced sitting on a chair or standing upright using a chair for support. Chair yoga classes and sessions are sometimes offered at senior retirement facilities, fitness centers, adult daycare centers, and nursing homes. Complex exercises and movements are not offered in a chair yoga session. Chair yoga incorporates breathing techniques, proper yoga positions, meditations, with the aid of a chair.

Hip-Hop

Hip-hop yoga

A fun and energizing variation of yoga types is hip-hop yoga, which adds a bit of dancing, singing, grooving, and snapping. Hip-hop yoga is an obvious combination of yoga, hip hop music, dance and with an emphasis on dancing. The outcome is a yoga style incorporated with Eastern and Western zing that’s athletically gratifying and spiritually relaxing. Hip-hop yoga’s philosophy covers yoga, invigorating workouts, and feel-good music, giving anybody a life-changing experience.

Eco-Friendly Yoga Mats

Saturday, August 29th, 2009
Yoga Mad

Yoga Mad

What is referred to as a premium yoga mat usually means an extra thick mat (although not always) or a mat that offers extra support and traction so that you won’t slip. Premium yoga mats are durable and usually will help you with grip and traction. A premium yoga mat may also refer to an eco-friendly and organic choice of yoga mat. Many companies who sell yoga mats have a ‘premium’ mat range.

When it comes to yoga mats, it really does come down to personal preference and it may be a bit of a trial and error game until you find the mat that is perfect for you. Although premium yoga mats are popular, some people still prefer the ’standard’ type of yoga mat or possibly even a cotton yoga mat.

Practicing yoga on a super soft and comfortable mat appeals to many people. Premium or thick yoga mats mean more padding and extra cushioning usually without being too squishy or unstable.

Usually the standard yoga mat size is 1/8-inch.2 mm) and what is referred to as the thick yoga mat is double this at 1/4-inch (6.4 mm). But just to confuse us, some manufacturers refer to their 1/4-inch (6.4 mm) yoga mats as ‘standard’. It probably makes more sense to refer to the 1/8-inch (3.2 mm) mats as ‘standard’ as there really isn’t anything else that could be used as a yoga mat that would be this thin. When you’re ready to buy your thick yoga mat, check the manufacturer’s sizing to make sure it’s the thickness you want. There are also some other yoga mat sizes bedsies the ones already mentioned. Usually the thickest is 1/2-inch (12.8 mm) which is extremely thick and soft.

A premium yoga mat is a luxurious choice but have an open-heart and be prepared to trial and error a few mats before you find ‘the one’. Remember you can always, sell or giveaway the yoga mats you did not love and there are actually quite a few creative ways you can recycle or re-use yoga mats so you don’t feel so guilty about treating yourself to a premium yoga mat that enhances your yoga.

How The 5 Principles Of Yoga Encourage Healing Through Positive Thinking

Friday, August 28th, 2009

Scientific research shows that people who think positively tend to live longer than those who think negatively? This is because positive thinking promotes a physiological environment that is ideal for healing to occur. The five principles of yoga promote positive thinking. Here’s how.

1. Exercise. When we exercise, our bodies release feel-good hormones called endorphins which make you feel fresh and happy.. thereby replacing negative thoughts with positive ones. But more importantly, yoga helps unblock energy pathways, thus allowing energy healing to work.

2. Breathing. Many of us are not aware of the fact that we are not breathing properly. Yoga emphasizes the usage of proper breathing techniques that increase oxygen intake which then enhances the circulation of both blood and energy in our bodies. As such, toxins of our bodies and the mind, such as negative thoughts, are banished and can be replaced by positive thoughts.

3. Relaxation. Yoga is a calming and rhythmic exercise, involving a lot of stretches and breathing. Through practicing the asanas and various yoga poses, tension is drained from our muscles – promoting relaxation of the body. This relief directly affects your happiness levels and general well-being, making it easier to think positively.

4. Diet. Yoga promotes holistic healing and practices, and therefore encourages wholesome eating as well. It recommends eating mainly fresh foods with lots of fruits and vegetables. What we eat has an effect on both our bodies and our minds and food with high oil and preservative content introduces an endless list of toxins to our bodies, thus disrupting our energy flow. The eating habits and diet recommended by yoga is beneficial for our general well-being!

5. Meditation. Lastly, meditation is a crucial element in the practice of yoga and energy healing. While the asanas and breathing techniques help to calm our minds, meditation allows us to take the time to look within ourselves. It is through deep introspection  that the active release and dispelment of negative and hurtful emotions from our minds occur. Then, these negative emotions can be replaced with calmer and more positive thoughts.

How Can Life Regression Benefit Me?

Thursday, August 27th, 2009

The percentage of the population, who believe in the existence of reincarnation, is only twenty five. This does not mean reincarnation is not real. Haven’t you ever discovered a hidden talent or may an inclination towards ’something’ and couldn’t explain it away. You know what I mean. I’m referring to. When there is a pull (strong feeling of connection) towards something we cannot explain. It could be simply something important from a past life.

Unfortunately many people overlook this possibility or ignore the validity of it and by doing so miss the opportunity to truly grow as a person and find out who they are today and why. What you don’t realize is that by not getting in touch with past lives you could very well be hindering your own success and personal achievement.

As a matter of fact extensive research has shown that past life regression is a very powerful tool in helping people with emotional problems.

One of the most common benefits of life regression is the healing and clearing of trauma. When we encounter trauma we all make one of two choices, run or face it and change it. When we are talking about life regression and facing trauma we also have the option of rescuing the past self and helping him/her move forward to the now where the trauma can be viewed as a whole by the Higher Self.

Past life regression can also help in contacting our creative side. There isn’t a person out there that doesn’t have a mix of talents and attributes that help guide them through life towards certain choices over others. A past life regression can help you go back through one or more lives where we can bring the attribute or the past life to act as an inner guide.

Karma means simply that what you do today or in the past (bad or good) will come back to you in the present. Past life regression can help you to redo an agreement or contract of the past with an individual involved at the time. However, you need to go back to the time of the creation of the original agreement, promise or contract in order to free yourself of the original document. Then you can come to a decision, do you want to atone or perhaps see if the agreement can be changed or modified to help you in your current situation. Most often this is accomplished with the help of the Inner Guide.

There is also the most significant benefit for going through past life regression and that is grounding and affirming one’s self.

When individuals practice past life regression it is not unusual for the to feel more grounded and to be more aware of themselves as a person and who they are. Mainly due to the fact they now know they have more desires, connections, passions, talents and characteristics. Having explanations of all this to them enables them to accept and embrace who they are and enable them to live a more balanced and complete life.

You can ask the experts in the field. They agree that if a person truly wants to enhance or improve their life then they need to practice past life regression. Past life regression will help you remember the lives you have had so that you can live a more fulfilled life this time.

You may not believe this, but if you believe the feelings and events you are experiencing are simply figments of your imagination, a catharsis takes place opening your mind, breaking down barriers from blocking the achievement of the goals you want to accomplish during your lifetime.

Briefly recapping life regression benefits, including dealing with the traumatic situations of past lives and enabling us to move forward in the present. Dealing with these past events makes it easier for us to make a better decision in the present using our experiences we’ve already had in the past.

Much like history, if you know history you are less likely to repeat history. This is true of the world and it is true of your personal life. If you know that in the past you were dishonest and you paid the price from being dishonest you can change your old habits to improve where you are today.

The most important of all the benefits of past life regression though is the fact that you will have a better understanding of who you are today and why you are that person. This means that you can live a more complete and balanced life where you are able to live to your fullest potential, taking advantage of the talents and skills you didn’t even know you had.
